Permanent Fixed Bridge
A Permanent Bridge replaces one or more
missing teeth. A bridge will:
- Keep teeth from drifting into the space created
from a missing tooth
- Fill the space of the missing teeth
- Help restore normal chewing function
- Restore proper speaking ability
- Restore your smile
- Maintain facial shape
|
 |
| A Permanent Bridge is usually
anchored to the teeth on both sides of the space from
the missing tooth. This gives the bridge strong support.
Brushing a bridge is no different than brushing natural
teeth, but special flossing instructions are given to
keep the bridge and surrounding tissue healthy. |
Types of Permanent Fixed bridges
There are several types of fixed bridges:
- A traditional bridge is the most popular type and is
constructed of porcelain fused to a gold alloy.
- An all ceramic bridge is gaining popularity due to the
enhanced cosmetic appearance and its metal free composition.
It is limited to smaller size bridges.
Dental bridges are very durable and with proper maintenance
will last many years.

A Permanent Bridge is permanently cemented or
bonded in place, unlike a Partial Denture (sometimes called
a "Removable Bridge"),
which is removable.
